Free Art Therapy for Veterans
Dallas Art Therapy offers free, trauma-informed individual art therapy and group art therapy designed specifically for veterans. Led by experienced, Masters-level art therapists (ATR, ATR-BC, ATR-P), our program provides a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, express yourself, and heal through art.
No art experience is needed—just a willingness to engage. Whether you're processing trauma, seeking connection, or looking for a creative outlet, art therapy helps veterans tap into inner strengths and build resilience with or without words.

Art Therapy at VALOR and for those referred by North Texas Veterans Court
At VALOR, we are proud to provide art therapy as part of the comprehensive approach to supporting veterans in the North Texas Regional Veterans Court program. Through collaboration with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Collin County CSCD, and dedicated volunteers, our goal is to offer meaningful opportunities for healing and personal growth.
Program Overview
VALOR is a state-funded Intermediate Sanction Facility, offering veterans who are facing probation revocations or incarceration a structured environment with work opportunities and treatment alternatives. By addressing the unique challenges that our veteran community faces, VALOR provides crucial rehabilitation services.
Art Therapy’s Role
Art therapy plays an integral role in VALOR’s holistic care approach. Veterans are given the opportunity to explore their emotions and experiences through creative expression, which can be especially helpful in processing trauma, developing coping strategies, and building emotional resilience. With the guidance of trained art therapists, veterans engage in activities designed to foster self-awareness, self-esteem, and emotional healing.
The Mission
At the heart of VALOR’s mission is the desire to help veteran defendants make positive changes in their lives. By providing evidence-based programs, including art therapy, we equip veterans with tools to improve decision-making, emotional regulation, and overall well-being, aiding in their successful reintegration into society. Through creative expression and therapeutic support, our veterans can find new ways to navigate challenges and reconnect with their strengths.
Why Art Therapy?
Art therapy offers a safe and supportive space for veterans to express what words may fail to convey. Whether dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression, or other challenges, the process of creating art allows veterans to gain insight into their thoughts and emotions, fostering healing and growth. This therapeutic outlet can be a powerful complement to the other services provided at VALOR, helping veterans rebuild their lives and regain control of their futures.
