SOS Open Studio time allows for the community to have a FREE space to create in a safe and nurturing environment with a trained art therapist available for guidance and support. The open studio process begins with each person formulating and writing an intention. This grounds and focuses the art-making that will follow. Intentions are personal and specific to each participant, guided by their own therapeutic needs. Next, art making techniques are introduced. All art materials are provided: oil pastels, paints, objects, and a variety of other materials. Our studio provides accessible media in an inviting array, ready and waiting for use. Our space is a safe, open place to be creative with no art experience required. Sponsored in honor of Sarah Davenport.
Sarah's Story:
Art making and poetry were important to Sarah in managing her mental health. She expressed her story through her artwork and many journals. She had a desire to share her story if it would help others who suffer find relief.
